Google has become a new member of the Digital Serbia Initiative. This way, Google joined the organization which, during two years of its existence, gathered 28 companies that share a common goal: digital transformation of Serbia.
Google will also contribute in this regard. According to the DSI announcement, Google is expected to invest its rich experience to help the development of the domestic digital economy. Joško Mrndze, director of Google Adriatics, also talked about sharing a common goal:
This association has already shown a number of initiatives to support the startup ecosystem, educational initiatives, as well as supporting the overall digitization of the Serbian economy. We will continue to support their activities through presence in the region, we will organize and participate in events where we can share our knowledge, and together we will support the development of the Serbian digital economy.
In addition to general expectations of future cooperation, the General Director of the DSI, Nebojša Djurdjević, also spoke about the significance of Google’s membership for the domestic digital ecosystem:
Our organization regularly informs the government about the moves that could make it easier for companies to operate in the global digital market. On the other hand, it is important that global platforms that support the development and monetization of digital products and services recognize Serbia and our ecosystem as relevant. Now that we have opened the door to working with Google as an organization, I am convinced that we will make significant breakthroughs through dialogue and joint work that will benefit each domestic startup and IT company.
Branko Milutinović, President of the Managing Board of the Digital Serbia Initiative, has given similar assurances. He believes that Google’s membership in this organization is the next step in the support that this global giant has already provided to our digital ecosystem.
