The Government of Serbia has invested over $118.386 million in three Science Technology Parks.
Yesterday, on the 30th of January 2020, Science Technology Park in Novi Sad opened their doors for startups, scientific institutes and students. The facility spans over 322,917 square feet and is an official project of the Government of Serbia and District of Vojvodina, with help of the city of Novi Sad and the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.
Over 3,000 students and 400 professors, assistant professors and docents will be using 107, 639 square feet of the premises. The remaining 215,278 square feet will be used by tech startups.
Other than Belgrade and Novi Sad, the construction of Science Technology Park in Nis worth $11.79 million is currently in motion. It will be situated near the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, with an estimated area of 150,694 square feet for its facilities.
Cities of Belgrade and Novi Sad make one startup ecosystem on the rise, according to Startup Genome 2019 and 2020 reports, and are valued at $502 million. District of Nis has recently popped on the map as a startup district, especially after the company Frame was acquired by Nutanix for $165 million, the biggest exit in Serbian startup scene so far.
